Terms and Conditions

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the π Calculator (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree, you must not use the Service. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the tool.

2. Description of Service

The π Calculator is a free, open-source, static web application that performs high-precision calculations involving π (e.g., spherical cap volumes, torus areas, frustum capacities, etc.) entirely within the user’s browser using JavaScript and the Decimal.js library. No account creation, login, or data submission is required or possible.

3. License to Use

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for personal, educational, or professional non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms. You may not:

  • Modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code (except where source is already public on GitHub).
  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
  • Remove or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices.
  • Distribute modified versions as your own without clear attribution to the original project.

4. Accuracy & Reliability Disclaimer

The Service provides mathematical computations using high-precision arithmetic, but results are provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose — especially in safety-critical, life-dependent, or regulated applications (e.g., structural engineering, aerospace, medical devices). Always verify results with qualified professionals and established reference standards before use in design, manufacturing, or certification processes.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. This includes, but is not limited to, errors in calculations, loss of data, or decisions made based on output.

6. No Data Collection

As stated in our Privacy Policy, we collect no personal data. You acknowledge that all input and output remain under your sole control on your device.

7. Intellectual Property

The design, layout, and original code (where not using third-party open-source libraries) are © 2026 the project maintainer. Third-party libraries (Bootstrap, Decimal.js) retain their own licenses. You may fork and contribute via the public GitHub repository under its license terms.

8. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. The new version will be posted here with an updated effective date. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the maintainer resides, without regard to conflict of law principles.

10. Contact

Questions about these Terms should be directed through the GitHub repository issues or contact channels listed in the footer/About page.

Use responsibly — high precision does not replace professional engineering judgment.
