Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to the HD Wallet Derivation Path Explainer, a free, open educational web utility. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you visit or use the tool. We are committed to the highest level of privacy protection.

This tool operates 100% client-side in your browser. No data you enter—derivation paths, examples, or any other input—is ever sent to our servers or any third party. We collect, store, and process zero personal information and zero usage data. This policy exists to be transparent and to confirm our strict no-collection stance.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect any of the following:

  • Personal Identifiable Information (PII) — names, email addresses, wallet addresses, IP addresses, or any other identifier
  • Input Content — derivation paths you type or paste remain only in your browser memory
  • Technical Data — browser type, device information, operating system, screen resolution, or location
  • Analytics or Tracking Data — we do not use Google Analytics, Matomo, Plausible, cookies, pixels, or any tracking script
  • Logs or Server-Side Records — there is no backend; nothing is logged

3. How the Tool Works

All functionality—including path parsing, validation, visualization, and explanations—happens locally using JavaScript. When you:

  • enter a derivation path → it is processed in memory only
  • see the tree diagram → it is drawn with SVG in your browser
  • receive error messages → they are generated client-side

No HTTP requests leave your device except for loading static assets (HTML, CSS, JS) from the hosting provider or public CDNs. These requests do not carry any personal or input data.

4. Third-Party Services & CDNs

We use public CDNs for Bootstrap and Bootstrap Icons. These requests are anonymous and do not include any user-specific information. No third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services are embedded.

5. Cookies & Local Storage

The tool does not set cookies. It may use temporary browser memory or session storage for UI state (e.g., last entered path), but this is cleared when you close the tab or refresh.

6. Security & Responsibility

Because no data is transmitted or stored by us, the primary security consideration is on your device. We recommend:

  • using a trusted, up-to-date browser
  • avoiding public or shared computers when entering sensitive example paths
  • never entering real seed phrases or private keys (the tool never asks for them)

7. Children’s Privacy

This educational tool is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Changes will appear on this page with a new effective date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
