Terms and Conditions

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Roman Numeral Converter (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. These Terms govern your use of this free, static, client-side web utility hosted on GitHub Pages.

2. Description of Service

The Service is a browser-based tool that performs real-time, bidirectional conversion between Arabic numerals (1–3999) and standard Roman numerals. All processing occurs locally in your browser. No account, login, or personal information is required. The tool is provided as-is with no warranties of any kind.

3. Permitted Use

You may use the Service for:

  • Personal, educational, or non-commercial purposes
  • Learning about Roman numerals
  • Verifying conversions for dates, outlines, or decorative text

Prohibited actions include:

  • Attempting to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the static site
  • Using the Service for illegal purposes
  • Misrepresenting conversion results as official or certified

4. No Data Collection

As stated in our Privacy Policy, we collect no personal data. Your inputs never leave your device. You acknowledge that we have no access to, control over, or responsibility for any content you type into the tool.

5. Intellectual Property

The design, layout, and conversion algorithms are © 2026 Thorleif / project author. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works of the site code or design without explicit permission. The Roman numeral conversion logic follows public-domain standard rules.

6. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of accuracy, reliability, or fitness for any purpose. Conversion results are based on standard modern Roman numeral conventions (1–3999) and may not match rare historical variants.

In no event shall the author be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of or inability to use the Service — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

7. Changes to the Service or Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice. We may update these Terms; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

8. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Norway, without regard to conflict of law principles.

9. Contact

Questions about these Terms may be directed via issues on the project’s public repository (link in footer).
